American Idol 9

[caption id="attachment_809" align="aligncenter" width="337" caption="Image courtesy of americanidolworship.com"][/caption]

American Idol fever is back for its 9th season and it seems that this will be bigger and better than the previous one.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of hopefuls gather in selected cities in the US to show the AI judges that they have the looks, the talent and the guts to be America's next big singing sensation. Sadly, only an exclusive number of contestants will make this prestigious cut and only one of them will be proclaimed American Idol number 9. Woohoo!

According to the US Nielsen, a steady 29.8 million people watched the 2-hour Idol premier last January 12, 2010, as compared to last year's 30.4 million viewers. The show dominated its time slot and proved that a talent search sprinkled with a little drama, fashion and honesty can really pull some strings.

I have been closely watching this show since my college days and it never fails to amaze me every single time. Seriously! This show produced some of the best performers I've heard and seen. Not to mention that it values raw, untapped talent that needs to be developed and shown to the world.

Let's take Kelly Clarkson as an example. I never thought she'd win Season 1 (I was actually betting on Justin Guarini. Hmph!). Plus, Jennifer Hudson's performance in Dream Girls earned her an Academy Award. And to think she didn't even made it to the top 3! Come on!

So far, I love Leah Laurenti. She's so pretty and the Jazz thing is very feisty!

And this definitely made my day! Pants on the ground, people!

So, who will be the next American Idol? We'll just have to wait and see! I can't wait! Yipee!

Oh! By the way, I love Victoria Beckham's elegance. Its classy and sexy at the same time!

Idol Contestant Luke Menard Diagnosed With Cancer

I was reading some health news on Google when I suddenly stumbled upon this article about Luke Menard. Of course, we all remember him from his short skit on American Idol Season 7 and making it to the top 24 Idol hopefuls. It goes...
Idol Contestant Luke Menard Diagnosed With Cancer
Hollywood (ChattahBox) - Former American Idol contestant Luke Menard has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer.

Luke Menard managed to gain many fans making it to the top 16 in American Idol season 7, which was eventually won by David Cook.

Menard saw his doctor after complaining of a persistent cough that would not go away. Tests done by his doctor revealed the mass behind his heart.

Menard’s acapella group, Chapter 6, put out a statement that he has a very curable cancer and is in good spirits.

The group made it clear to his fans that “the prognosis is good.”

Hodgkin's lymphoma, also known as Hodgkin's Disease, is a form of malignancy occurring from a patient's lymph nodes spreading in an orderly manner. It is often characterized by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells on lymph node biopsy and histo-path examination. Common signs and symptoms include lymph node enlargement on the neck and shoulders, non-specific back pain, hepatosplenomegaly (enlargement of the liver and spleen), weight loss, and fever. Treatment includes radiation therapy and/or combination chemotherapy.

I certainly hope that he'll be able to conquer and overcome this obstacle just like the AI7 auditions. :)

AI7 Top 3 Performances

Wow. The American Idol Season 7 Top 3 contestants were stunningly awesome. Each gave the performance of their life in order to stay for next week's season finale. Of course, I loved David Archuleta's recital, especially his 3rd song, "Longer". Syesha and David C. were also good. I seriosly can't wait for tomorrow's anouncement. *Fingers crossed*wink*wink* :)

Oh! By the way, here's the guide for the Top 3's songs. I took the liberty of writing them all down for everyone's sake. Haha. :)

Rockin' David Archuleta

Rockin\' down the house

Stunningly brilliant. :D

The American Idol Season 7 Top 4 contestants sang songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night and, seriously, Simon Cowell was definitely precise on his comment on David Archuleta: "You didn't beat the competition. You crushed the competition." Meanwhile, Paula Abdul stated after his second performance: "That was one of my favorite performances from you. I felt your heart. It was fantastic and very beautiful." David A. sang "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King and "Love me Tender" by Elvis Presley.

Next week, the Top 3 finalists will be performing 3 songs each (a contestant's choice, a judge's choice, and a producer's choice). I just can't wait! Haha. :)

Too bad Jason Castro won't be there next week. Obviously, Simon was right all along ("I'd pack your suitcase"). Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

Coffee, Jason? :)

Mariah Carey on American Idol

Mariah Carey

With Mariah Carey's new album, E=MC2, out on the market this week, it is only rightful to have her and her music on American Idol. Being a singer-song-writer makes her THE best mentor for the AI Top 7. Yahoo!

The best mentor ever

When I learned that the AI Top 7 would be performing Mariah's music this week, I was seriously skeptical about it. First of all, the 3 guys would definitely need to pull off some monstrous risks on their performance to make it till next week, since most of MC's songs were sung on the opposite sex's point of view. On the other hand, the 4 girls would need to make the song their own and lessen the chances of being compared to the original track. Identity peole, IDENTITY. Tsk tsk tsk.

\

David Archuleta's rendition of the Mariah-Whitney hit "When You Believe" was simply amazing. It was simple, vibrant, and superb. His singing prowess will definitely make you believe. I seriously did! As Simon Cowell stated midway during the show, he's the guy to beat. Haha. :D

\

Of course, there's David Cook and his version of "Always Be My Baby." At first, I was fearful that he might not be able to pull it off because the said song contained sweet and girly sentiments. But, as expected from Mr. Cook, he made the song his own. Yipee! As Paula Abdul said, this version could be on a movie's sound track.

Overall, the guys literally ate their estrogen-based counterparts. End of story. Haha.

Coffee, Mariah? Haha. :D

On David Archuleta

He has the voice and the talent.

He has the face and the looks.

He has the charisma and the moves.

He has everything and he could be the next American Idol!

David Archuleta

His rendition of the John Lennon classic "Imagine" was simply amazing. I was even teary-eyed after his astounding performance. Randy said he's so hot. Paula was literally in tears and Simon said that he was way ahead of the other 19 contestants. Yipee! :)

God, please bless this boy who sings from his heart. Please let him be the next American Idol. Please!
