Starstruck

Went to see the UAAP Women's Volleyball at the Blue Eagle Gym today. Obviously, I was with my little sister, Ella. UST was up against DLSU for the 1st game then UP vs. AdU for the 2nd game. I was bored, as usual. Haha.

UST had a rough start during the 1st set. The floor defense was, obviously, poor. The attacks from the attackers (Balse, Bernal, and Tabaquero) were easily read by the Lady Archers. Offensively, the team did fairly. They managed to bag some points (17, I think) from Balse's center attacks and Bernal's cross-court hits. Nice, Nice.

On the other hand, the Lady Archers were so good. Their combination attacks were astounding plus their floor defense was flawless, thanks to their libero. Llaguno was, as expected, the veteran of the team. She managed to read some of Balse's center spikes and stepped up for Taft-based Archers.

But, as expected, the Espana-based spikers clawed the Lady Archers with a four-setter. UST managed to bag the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th set with some hard-hitting attacks from Venus Bernal and the ever effective Mary Jean Balse. The Lady Tigers polished their floor defense and the blocking department was so nice. The 2nd set was the longest deuce I've ever seen sa UAAP. I wasn't even blinking! Seriously!

Starstruck. Yes, that's the most appropriate word that would describe my actions during the pictorial (or so to speak). They're amazing players. Up until now, I'm still speechless. Seriously speechless. ARGHH!

Anyways, kudos to the UST Lady Spikers for defeating the Lady Archers. You guys are the best! Haha. Good luck and God Bless on the FEU game!
