"I am a sinner. All of us are sinners in this house!"
-Former House Speaker Jose De Venecia
Honestly, he should have been a priest, a preacher or something of that sort. From the way he spoke his privilege speech last night, he would've become an effective man for the church. :)
Seriously, this battle for the house speakership in the lower house of representatives is a stupid cat fight between power-hungry and mindless animals. Mindless in the sense that they (the congressmen) let themselves be influenced and controlled by 2 fat kids and their not-so-intelligent father from the palace beside the river. And to think that most, if not all, of them (the congressmen) are well-educated and hail from prominent families. How pathetic.
As Gabriela Party-List Representative Lisa Maza would put it:
"This is a well-funded MalacaƱang assault on the Congress!"
Kudos to you, Ma'am, for voting NO last night! Unlike most of your colleagues, you still managed to see reason amidst this absurd page in Philippine history.
Lesson to be learned? Power is never absolute, especially in the Philippines where all politicians are easily swayed by money. Pathetic indeed.
Poor, poor JDV. Want some coffee?
Oh! By the way, look who's smiling now. :)
