With Mariah Carey's new album, E=MC2, out on the market this week, it is only rightful to have her and her music on American Idol. Being a singer-song-writer makes her THE best mentor for the AI Top 7. Yahoo!
When I learned that the AI Top 7 would be performing Mariah's music this week, I was seriously skeptical about it. First of all, the 3 guys would definitely need to pull off some monstrous risks on their performance to make it till next week, since most of MC's songs were sung on the opposite sex's point of view. On the other hand, the 4 girls would need to make the song their own and lessen the chances of being compared to the original track. Identity peole, IDENTITY. Tsk tsk tsk.
David Archuleta's rendition of the Mariah-Whitney hit "When You Believe" was simply amazing. It was simple, vibrant, and superb. His singing prowess will definitely make you believe. I seriously did! As Simon Cowell stated midway during the show, he's the guy to beat. Haha. :D
Of course, there's David Cook and his version of "Always Be My Baby." At first, I was fearful that he might not be able to pull it off because the said song contained sweet and girly sentiments. But, as expected from Mr. Cook, he made the song his own. Yipee! As Paula Abdul said, this version could be on a movie's sound track.
Overall, the guys literally ate their estrogen-based counterparts. End of story. Haha.
Coffee, Mariah? Haha. :D
so love mc's shoes! =)
