Crazy Thoughts: The Past

Crazy Thoughts

Luck is when opportunity and readiness meet.

"Laziness is oftentimes due to inadequate love and affection for the persons and things around." - Santos, Heaven's Kitchen

Vanity can be super fun. Ironically, you will have to endure every single pain it entails.

"There is nothing worse than the feeling that no one cares whether we exist or not, that no one is interested in what we have to say about life, and that the world can continue turning without our awkward presence." - Paulo Coelho, The Zahir

Reality bites. And when it does, it hurts.

"Everything is simple. We are the one's who complicate them." - Martin De Guzman

Getting married is an obligation.

"Loneliness is natural and sweet for men growing up." - Kemi Buladaco

Patience is a virtue.

Boredom consumes happiness.

We must all go beyond what our mortal eyes can see. Every human action has a moral implication.

Envy consumes every single drop of an individual's goodwill.

Note: I got these wacky/insightful ideas from haphazard sources and random neural impulses to my cerebral cortex. Enjoy! :)

Step Up 2 the Streets

Step Up 2 the Streets

"Look, the streets is about where you're from. It's not some school talent show. There's no spring floors. There's no spotlights to use what you got and... what makes you think you got it, huh?" - Andie, Step Up 2 the Streets

I was with Bossing at Trinoma Mall for our second official date the other date when we came across the aforementioned movie. Seeing that watching the said film would make the Trinoma date worthwhile and, to some extent, meaningful, we decided to grab our lunch from Kenny Roger's Roasters (messy tuna sandwich) and dash our way to the movie house. Overall, the movie was definitely exciting, sexy and hot.

Andie (Briana Evigan) is a struggling orphan left in the care of her mom's best friend. Aspiring to become a dancer some time in the future, she joins the 4-1-0 crew to hone her dancing prowess. Unfortunately, the dangers of the streets pisses her guardian and threatens to send her to an aunt in Texas. Luckily, she enters the Maryland School for the Arts where she meets Chase (Robert Hoffman), Mr. popular, and Moose (Adam Sevani), the campus loser.

At the MSA, Andie creates her own crew alongside Chase and Moose. All of its members are, to some extent, unique in their own right and specializing in different fields. The MSA crew is a diverse combination of individuals representing the streets, as mentioned in the film. Obviously, the MSA crew challenged the 4-1-0 crew in a do-or-die dance match at the streets. Of course, MSA won in style.

Here's the whole MSA crew routine, courtesy of youtube. Enjoy it as much as we, Paulo and Bossing, did! :)

In conclusion, the film was a great way to spend some time with someone special. Wala na 'kong masabi since I had so much fun with Bossing. Anyways, the film was nice and thrilling, especially with the choreography and diverse cast.

Coffee, anyone?

Disappear, Gultiano. Disappear.

You have stooped so low.
I didn't think even you would go that far.
Maawa ka sa sarili mo.
Nakakahiya ka.

I think of the effort you exerted to maintain the illusion, all the lies you said and the little details you came up with, and I feel sorry for you. Radiology exams and a Makati condo indeed. You stripped yourself of your name, your face, your voice, your entire identity for something that wasn't even real. You have no respect for yourself. Is it really a surprise that people have no respect for you?

You knew full well that I don't want to have anything to do with you, pero pinipilit mo pa rin ang sarili mo. You get turned away at the front door so you sneak your way in through the back. But no matter how hard you try, you can never stay. Because the fact remains that YOU ARE NOT WELCOME.

The dignified thing to have done would have been to accept things and walk away with your self-respect intact, but then again, you never had that in the first place. Instead, you debase yourself to the point of denying everything that you are to get something you never deserved.

You are disordered in a most fundamental way.

I don't know if you know this, but the rest of us do. People make fun of you behind your back. They mimic your voice and laugh. Your classmates have no respect for you. You are loud, irritating and bossy. Your own officers are against you. Hindi ka maayos kausap at katrabaho.

Epal ka. You are KSP in the extreme. As in kulang na kulang. You're almost universally disliked, and you know it, but you can't accept it, so, as usual, you create a make-believe world where you're okay and popular, living a life that you know is a lie.

You are pathetic.

There's more than enough of us to let you know that we don't want you around. So do us all a favor and stop inflicting yourself on us. Know your limits and stay there. Stop crashing our lives. You're not invited. You don't deserve us.

You deserve not even this. It is an act of charity that I even acknowledge you're alive. So take the hint and remove yourself from our lives.

Maglaho ka na.

Note: I got this letter from a former friend a few years ago after a nasty fight. After viewing the merciless letter after all these years, it still amazes me how narrow-minded individuals still exist. Nevertheless, this post signifies my long-awaited exodus to the darkest era of my dark/twisted/broken/jaded life. Yipee! :)

Coffee, anyone?

When was the first time pala? I WAS USED with all the information I had. Who wouldn't? I never used you. You, perhaps, used me. Don't go bragging all those presumptions. Deception. Please. I never lied to you about anything. The family, the ex, the "why I like you" part, they were all true. Justin was the only lie. But, nevertheless, still lied. For that I am forever sorry. Thank you for everything. We both, at some point, had fun.

Bubbly - Colbie Caillat

Will you count me in?

I've been awake for a while now
You got me feelin' like a child now
'Cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tingles in a silly place

Chorus
It starts in my toes
And I crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go

The rain is falling on my window pane
But we are hiding in a safer place
Under covers staying dry and warm
You give me feelings that I adore
(Repeat Chorus)

What am I gonna say
When you make me feel this way
I just mmmmm

And it starts in my toes
Makes me crinkle my nose
Wherever it goes
I always know
That you make me smile
Please stay for a while now
Just take your time
Wherever you go

I've been asleep for a while now
You tuck me in just like a child now
'Cause every time you hold me in your arms
I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth

And it stats in my soul
And I lose all control
When you kiss my nose
The feelin' shows
'cause you make me smile baby
Just take your time now
Holdin' me tight

Wherever wherever wherever you go
Wherever wherever wherever you go

Wherever you go
I always know
'Cause you make me smile
Even just for a while

This song defines my current emotional condition. Everything seems to be in a limbo-ish/stable state: no strings attached while enjoying the dating scene. Anyways, you never fail to make me smile at peculiar times and it certainly is a welcome change in my jaded/twisted life. Thank you, Bossing, for this special thing that we have (whatever that is). Haha. :)

Bubbly

"'Cause every time I see your bubbly face, I get the tingles in a silly place."

Coffee, Bossing? :)

  • Went to National Statistics Office in QC with Mom to get a copy of my birth certificate. We also went to the  QC Hall to get my cedula. These are necessary for my PRC application. Super tiring.

Heart Center Experience: IVT Training

Philippine Heart Center

As mentioned on my earlier post, I did attend the Intravenous Therapy Training at the Philippine Heart Center last March 11 to 13, 2008. I had a lot of fun and definitely learned loads of cool stuff necessary for future use. I also met a lot of interesting individuals from all walks of the profession and spent some quality and hilarious time with my batch mate, Joan "Bibs" Bibal. Fun, fun, fun.

Day 1

  • Pre-Test (I got 16 out of 20). Yipee! :)

  • Lecture about the foundation on IVT Training in the Philippines.

  • Lecture about Fluid and Electrolytes.

  • Lecture on Blood Transfusion.

  • Lecture on Medication interactions.

Day 2

The Venous System of the Hand

  • Lecture on the venous system of the hands.

  • Lecture on the proper insertion of the IV catheter.

  • Lecture on IV drug administration.

  • Lecture on Total Parenteral Nutrition.

  • Practice insertion on dummy arm.

Day 3

  • Post-Test (I got 20, I think)

  • Work shop with Nurse supervisors.

  • Awarding of certificates.

Anyways, day 3 was the best of all because we had the chance to practice all the interesting and technical things we learned in class. Of course, we were graded based on our performance (memory, actually) and we had to pass them all. Obviously and as expected, I passed every single task in a breeze and that made the whole ordeal all worth while.

Here are some images from the said event. Enjoy!

Uncertainty.

I think she's prepared for anything under the sun.

You can do it!

He's a bit afraid, I think.

Bibs & Juvi on the go

Bibs, expect the unexpected. Haha. You can do it!

Sharp shooter ka ba?

This is how it should be done. Haha.

Post-”Tusok-Tusok”

My hand post-IV insertion. The pain! The pain!

After 3 days of quasi-boring/exciting lectures and dozens of trials and errors, I definitely learned a lot of things that would seriously boost my Resume and career path some time in the future. Of course, I have to comply with the necessary requirements (6 IV insertions, 6 medication administration and 2 blood transfusions) to obtain the coveted IV Therapy card. Now, the problem lies with the completion. I wonder when and where would that be? Hmmm.

Coffee, anyone?

Bb. Pilipinas Controversy

Bb. Pilipinas

Paolo Bediones: Janina, how are you?
Janina San Miguel: I'm fine.
Paolo Bediones: Alright, so you won two of the major awards - Best in Long Gown, Best in Swimsuit, do you feel any pressure right now?
Janina San Miguel: No, I don't feel any pressure right now.
Paolo Bediones: Confident! Alright! Please choose a name of the judge.
Paolo Bediones: We have Miss Vivienne Tan.
Vivienne Tan: Good Evening.
Janina San Miguel: Good Evening.
Vivienne Tan: The question is, what role did your family play to you as candidate to Binibining Pilinas?
Janina San Miguel: Well, my family's role for me is so important b'coz there was the wa- they're, they was the one who's... very... Hahahaha... Oh I'm so sorry, Ahhmm... My pamily... My family... Oh my god... I'm... (Paolo Bediones: Pwede ka magtagalog,ok lang) Ok, I'm so sorry... I... I told you that I'm so confident... Eto, Ahhmm, Wait... Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b'coz I'm only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the taf 10. Hmmm, so... but I said dot my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you.

Sometimes, I don't know what's happening to this jungle of a country. A faulty quasi-dictator/cheater for a president, a shaky/slumped economy, law makers who break the laws they make, and relentless traffic. ANO BA NAMAN YAN!

Why was I born in this country?!

I was watching the whole pageant on TV, courtesy of my mother and sisters. And when the judge blurted her question, I was expecting something elegant and stimulating from the aforementioned contestant. Unfortunately, it was the other way around. During the entire fiasco, I was covering my ears and pretending not to hear anything. Too bad the whole nation saw the said disaster and posted every single detail on Youtube. Haha. :)

Seriously, she should have followed Paolo's brilliant advice and ditched the whole "trying-hard-to-speak-in-full-English" skit. Not to mention that her answer was pathetic, irrelevant and definitely pointless. To think that she's in college majoring in Communication Arts. Grrr. How fitting for a candidate with that major. Ughh. I am, of course, with faults myself but even a 5-year old kid could've given a better and brighter answer with tons of substance, material and relevance. Come on! What was she thinking?!

What really bugged me was the impression she made on Chris Tiu. Hmmm. I bet he was laughing his brains out with the crowd during the whole cockup. Haha. :)

Miss World

Anyways, I just wish that before the 58th Miss World Beauty Pageant on October 4, 2008, at the Ukraina National Palace in Kiev, Ukraine, her prominent flaws would hopefully turn into stunning/deadly claws that would grab the coveted crown and bring pride to the Republic of the Philippines. That would actually silence every single individual about her Binibining Pilipinas flop.

And that includes me. :)

Coffee, Janina?

Pacquiao-Marquez Fight

Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao won the WBC Super Feather Weight Championship of the world after 12 rounds of intense boxing via split decision. Yipee! :)

The scores are as follows:

  • Marquez: 115 - 112 - 113

  • Pacquiao: 112 - 115 - 114

We heard the 45-minute fight over the radio live since the delayed television telecast takes ages, plus the 15 or more commercials in between makes the whole ordeal seriously unbearable. ARGH!

Pacman

Eat 'em all up, PACMAN! Haha. :)

Anyways, kudos to Manny Pacquiao for uniting the Filipino people even for a day. :)

Coffee, Manny?

Heart Center Experience

Philippine Heart Center

Monday, March 3, 2008. I have been preparing myself for this particular day for about a month in line with the registration of the IV Therapy Training at the Philippine Heart Center. First, I expected that a lot of nurses will be present on the morning of the 4th for the registration, so I went there the night before. Next, I thought of spending the night at the lobby just to secure a spot of the most coveted IV training center in the country. Lastly, I drank a Grande Non-Fat Hot Caramel Macchiato to "psych" myself for the said event. Prepared and all that, I made my way to Philippine Heart Center along East Avenue in Quezon City for a night to remember.

I was so unprepared.

When I arrived at around 22:00, about 160+ individuals were there waiting for the morning registration. Flabbergasted, I made my way towards the early birds (or so to speak) to have my name listed in their unofficial and informal "list" just to calm my nerves. Bummer.

Heart Center Mayhem

I took this one when I arrived at the Phil. Heart Center at around 22:00. By some strange reason, a number of individuals devised some sort of a scheme to put themselves ahead of everyone else by virtue of the time they arrived. Person no. 1 surprisingly arrived at 7:10 in the morning. I was no. 156. BLAH!

Heart Center Mob

Bored and sleepy, a number of nurses preferred to pass the time via a number of peculiar ways. And, in this case, card games tend to be very fun and entertaining. I, on the other hand, took the liberty of reading Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."

Heart Center Matters

Of course, some were obliging and thrilled when I asked them for a souvenir photograph. Obviously, they were trying to muster a smile amidst the uncertainty of the morning's registration. Say "Heart Center!!"

Heart Center Mischief

This one was taken when I was in the line. Tagged as person no. 136, I was losing hope of making it inside the registration hall by 6:00. I just sat there and waited for the sun to shine and leave the area for UST.

Luckily, around 5:00, I saw Kuya Nat (former Vice-President of the NCBS) walking by the lobby on his way out for a cup of Taho. I followed his pace and seriously asked him to help me out with the registration. Grabbing my arm, he pulled me towards the ER ignoring the security personnel, passed a number of stairs and lobbies before leaving me in front of the registration hall. Of course, I am forever in his debt. Thank you so much, Kuya Nat.

In short, I cheated my way in. Haha. :)

By 8:00, the organizers announced that only 15 individuals will be entertained for the March 11-13 training. I was no. 14 so I was very lucky enough to made it through. Yipee! The majority, most of which were way earlier than I was, were furious about the situation stating that most, if not all, of the 15 were not in their "list" of early birds. Some were very emotional about the fiasco and vowed never to return to the institution. Others, just shrugged the whole thing and left.

Unfortunately for them, the organizers clearly pointed out that the said "list" of early birds was an unofficial and informal list of individuals who waited at the lobby and that the true registration for IVT training will be held inside the registration hall on a first come first served basis. No more. No less.

Nevertheless, I will be taking the IV Therapy training next week at the Philippine Heart Center. Work people, work!

Coffee, anyone?

UAAP Season 70 Volleyball Champions

FEU Obviously, everybody witnessed how the FEU Lady Tamaraws won the championship of the 70th season of the UAAP Women's Volleyball at The Arena in San Juan after 5 nerve-wrecking sets. Incredible sets from Semana and Abanto, not to mention the power of Cafranca, Gonzales, and Morada, and the smart moves from Daquis overcame the very athletic AdU. The only thing that bothered me was the way Taganas and Morada acted inside the court. Tama ba namang mag-drawing ng curve or raindow or whatever sa kabilang court?! Wow, talk about respect for your opponent, sister. The school officials should not be tolerant to such behavior and that also applies to Taganas and Cafranca. Anyways, congratulations to the FEU Lady Tamaraws on their 30th Women's Volleyball Championship.

Adamson Unfortunately, I prefer the AdU lady Falcons over the Morayta-based squad. Clearly, they've shown that hard work seriously pays off. Strong floor defense, smart attacks and power hits were very evident in all of their games (except when they lost to UST twice). Laguilles was so smart when it comes to her attacks, Serafica was generous in all of her sets, and Benting was simply amazing. Of course, my favorite would have to be Segodine. She has the talent and all, plus the attitude. I like the eye's thing after her powerful spike against the FEU blockers. *wink* *wink*Haha. :) Gotta watch her out next season.

UST By the way, congratulations to the UST Men's Volleyball Team for winning the Men's division. To think that FEU's the defending champion and having 2 powerful players from the National team (Mabbayad and Lopez) makes them a very formidable team. Wow. Nonetheless, it is a hard-earned victory for UST thanks to tons of hard work and overflowing confidence. Dimaculangan had a lot of options for UST's offense (Balse, Torres, Pecaña, Roque, Ilano, and Ramos) and the bench players of Coach Emil Lontoc is definitely a powerhouse, especially Say who always scores a point whenever he's inside the court. Again, a well deserved win for the UST Men's Volleyball Team.

Scores: UST def. FEU (3-2) : 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11

Season 70 MVP : Reno Roque

VIVA SANTO TOMAS! Yipee! :)

Atonement

Atonement

"Dearest Cecilia, the story can resume. The one I had been planning on that evening walk. I can become again the man who once crossed the surrey park at dusk, in my best suit, swaggering on the promise of life. The man who, with the clarity of passion, made love to you in the library. The story can resume. I will return. Find you, love you, marry you and live without shame." - Robbie Turner, Atonement

In line with the recently concluded Academy Awards, I have decided to watch Joe Wright's adaptation of Ian McEwan's critically acclaimed novel "Atonement." Of course, the movie won an Oscar for Best Original Score and Best Motion Picture-Drama in the Golden Globes, which makes the whole movie experience very pleasing and delightfully entertaining.

The movie revolves around Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) and the son of their housekeeper, Robbie Turner (James McAvoy). Obviously, the two sisters fancy Robbie as a prospective lover in the future because of his air and stature. Unfortunately for Briony, Robbie prefers the older and sophisticated Cecilia, especially after their sexually enticing encounter by the fountain/pond. Briony then misjudges Robbie as a "sexual maniac" after seeing the happenstance and reading a sexually explicit letter containing disturbing words that are occurring inside Robbie's head. Obviously, the said letter materialized inside the Tallis Library and honestly, it was artistically done with so much adeptness and passion as if the actors were really into it. However, Briony interrupts the heated action and thinks that Robbie is taking Cecilia against her will.

Cecilia and Robbie

Then, a crime of lust happens: Lola Quincey (Juno Temple) gets herself raped by an unknown man in a tuxedo outside the Tallis manor while searching for the twins (Jackson and Pierrot Quincey). Briony accuses Robbie of the said crime (of course, he did not rape Lola) in line with her jealousy and perceived Robbie-induced sexual aggression with Cecilia and gets the poor guy straight to prison. Fast forward into the future, Robbie gets out of prison via the militia to ward off Germany's invasion of France and Cecilia becomes a nurse manager in London (I think). During their pre-war date, Cecilia assures Robbie that she will always keep in touch (via snail mail, of course) and will eventually wait for and marry him. On the other hand, Briony (Romola Garai) also became a nurse for the military to redeem herself, or so to speak, of the enormous guilt of accusing Robbie of false rape.

Unfortunately, Robbie and Cecilia died during the war (Robbie of septicemia and Cecilia of a war-related accident in London). Strangely enough, towards the latter part of the film, a pseudo-future scene was shown, wherein Briony was asked by the couple to withdraw her 4-year old statement against Robbie in order to clear Robbie's ill name and ultimately tell the truth. But, as stated, the lovers died and Briony wasn't able to clear Turner's name. Briony then becomes a famous novelist in the future (Vanessa Redgrave) and her last novel (entitled, "Atonement") contained the real score on Lola's case and gave Cecilia and Robbie a hopeful happy ending. The end.

Briony and Robbie

What really struck me the most, with regard to the entire film, was the note-worthy "typewriter-ish" sound that appears during the turning points of the film. At first, it was a bit disturbing and annoying to the common ear but, as the movie progresses, this unique sound suddenly becomes a mark that something sensible will happen next. It adds suspense all throughout and it somehow states on how this clever and provoking story started: In writing. The overall musical score was fabulous and well-suited for each character, event, and the magnificent scenery. No wonder it won an Academy! Kudos!

Overall, the movie was very sagacious and brilliant. It is a must see and will magnify the age-old statement that "the truth will set us free."

Coffee, anyone?
